Nestled in the Piedmont region of Virginia, east of the Blue Ridge Mountains and west of the fall line, sits Barrel Oak Winery. Home to Virginia’s “Most Family Friendly Winery in the World” – Wine Enthusiasts. Since the first vine was planted on our Delaplane farm in 2006, we have remained committed to providing our guests with premium examples of fine Virginia wine making.
The 30-acre vineyard is home to a selection of traditional Vitis Vinifera and American French hybrids. Currently, there are ten varietals growing under vine including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Manseng, Petit Verdot, Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Traminette, and Chambourcin. We also grow Virginia’s premiere native grape Norton.
Acquired by new owners in 2022, the local family is dedicated to furthering our longstanding commitment to quality, integrity, and guest experiences. This extends to our community. Being stewards of this land comes with a responsibility to our neighbors and visitors. The tasting room acts as a meeting place to sip the “fruits of our land” and give back to our regions needs by way of philanthropic activities.
As we usher in the next generation of Virginia wine lovers, we remain steadfast in preserving our history and core values.
The votes are in, and we are excited to announce that Barrel Oak Winery & Brewery was named Virginia’s Favorite Winery in the Warrenton Lifestyles Best of Fauquier Contest. We want to thank all the voters and our guests for your continued love and support. It is our immense pleasure to create a wonderful experience and fine wine for you to enjoy, and we are honored to have won the award again this year.

I fell head over heels in love with craft beer back in the ancient times when Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams ruled the brew-tastic kingdom. Yep, I was a bonafide beer nerd, geeking out over hops and barley like it was my job. Little did I know, it would become my job! After a lengthy career as a professional photographer, fate decided to throw me a frothy curveball—I got the chance to become a professional brewer. Naturally, I pounced on that opportunity like a cat on a laser pointer. So here I am, a brewing maestro for over a decade now, crafting liquid gold for the masses.
But wait, there’s more! Before my hops obsession took hold, I was a wild child, growing up on a farm in rural southern Pennsylvania. Nature was my playground, and boy, did I embrace it! You could often find me cycling like the wind, hiking through the wilderness, or setting up camp in the great outdoors. Now that I’m in northern Virginia, I’ve traded the farm life for closer proximity to family and some epic cycling adventures. Plus, being just an hour away from DC means I can soak up all the culture it has to offer—when I’m not busy fermenting magic in my beer laboratory, that is.
And guess what? I’m here at Barrel Oak, ready to rock your taste buds with some world-class craft beers. I’ve got the potions, the passion, and the pouring skills to make your taste buds do the happy dance. So raise your glass, my friend, and let’s toast to good times, great beer, and a nerdy obsession that turned into a frothy dream come true!
