2023 was one of the best vintages Virginia has seen in recent memory. A very dry growing season produced concentrated flavors and exceptional fruit. Named for Ken and Kavelle’s granddaughter Rayne, this wine captures the clarity and character of a season that gave everything it had.
Rayne was fermented and aged in 100% stainless steel. As fermentation slows, the winemaking team tastes every day until the perfect balance between acidity and sweetness is found. Fermentation is stopped to retain natural sweetness from the grape juice. Malolactic fermentation is bypassed entirely, keeping this wine light and crisp.
