It has been an amazing week here.  Our team has truly cemented their place as Virginia’s premiere wine makers.  Two golds at the top competition in the nation:  The San Francisco Chronicle:  More than any other winery in Virginia, and a Platinum medal at San Diego International for our Cabernet Franc.  The platinum means that the wine was a gold that was further considered for best in category and best in show.

This follows last year’s double gold in SF Chronicle for the Reserve Chard, best in categories all over the nation, Best Red at Indy, and countless golds at several of the nation’s top competitions.  They are seriously kicking some wine butt!

I know that Sharon and Rick are making amazing wine…but it is so cool when they get recognized for it.

Their craft lies at the heart of BOW’s success.  Leave it or take it, their wines rock the BOW Haus!  More is on the way also!  So stay tuned!

Part of the fun is all of the other farm madness we are enjoying.  Next week we travel to MD to find breeding male stock for the alpaca girls.  Crescendo (pictured below) is still just a juvenile, so his breeding days won’t start till next Spring.  For now, we’ll bring new bloodline in from the folks in Maryland.  This is very exciting!

Have you seen the horses?  We now have about 24 roaming the pastures of our Vintage Hill property.  They join the 20 or so head of cattle roaming the Oak Hill Farm.

So much more is on the way including 6000 new vines at the end of April.  Cab Sauv and Cab Franc.  Great vines make great wine!
