I've been to a lot of winery's in Northern California and I was hands down impressed with this winery. Aside from the great wine and selections they also have beer for those non-wine-inclined. Throw in some pizza, various munchies and, during summer months, oysters, and you have a nice variety of things to try at this winery. Add in all the adorable dogs that paw through the place and it is now an amazing winery. They have a significant variety of activities for the family and lots of seating, indoor, outdoor and picnic space. I understand now why this place is packed often. Fortunately, I went during a holiday weekday time and got to enjoy the winery during a calm time. I recommend visiting the winery and trying any of their delicious selections.

OMG! Sooo many puppies!!!! It was so awesome. I had not idea Barrel Oak was so dog-friendly when I went. It was such an awesome surprise to see all the adorable dogs at the winery. We didn't take our pup with us, but we did buy him some doggy ice cream and took it home for him. The wine was fun to taste. I didn't take anything home with us. However, my wife and dad really enjoyed the brick oven pizza they sell outside.

This spot offers beer and wine, which is great for those who want different options. Large indoor/outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Often have Groupons. Have tried a number of their wines and all have been solid. The food is also reasonably priced.

My girlfriend (and pup) and I recently visited BOW. Our pourer, Tamlyn was absolutely FABULOUS! She was so knowledgeable, beyond friendly to us and our dog, and made our experience one in which I still remember her name even though our visit was 2+weeks ago. We have consistently enjoyed our experiences at this winery and this visit was no different!

I had been to BOW but it was 5 years ago. I decided to try a flight of beers due to the fact that beer was not available when I visited last time. The beer was meh to good. I can say honestly nothing to me was outstanding. What is outstanding about BOW is their space in general. I don't know this for sure but it felt like the space had expanded since I was there last time. It is huge with options to sit inside and/or out with and/or without live music. I was with a group of 6 and we had no issue finding a space to sit and relax. BOW is also very dog friendly (both inside and out). Although I did not bring a dog, I loved seeing everyone else's dogs. In a nutshell, I would highly recommend BOW if you want a tasting experience for a group.

This is such a cool place!! A beautiful location with beautiful views, they offer their own wines and beers. They have comprehensive wine tasting flights for $11 with 6 wines plus goodies not on the menu (I enjoyed a tiny cup of mulled wine on a chilly day recently). They are dog friendly, sell gourmet pizzas on site, have a loft room with amazing views and ample seating, two outdoor patios with live music during good weather on weekends. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient and the wines are very good! I've not tried the beer. If you have the Virginia Wine Pass, they offer discounts on flights. Definitely a fun place to stop and have a flight or glass of wine while enjoying mountain views. They have picnic seating outside as well, and like many Virginia wineries, you can purchase a bottle of their wine and enjoy any food you've brought (no outside wine- state law).

This was our first visit to Barrel Oak, and we will definitely be back! The Barrel Chardonnay was good, as were all the beers my husband tried in his beer flight. The wood-fired pizza and oysters they had for food vendors were both also delicious. Best part was the beautiful views and how dog-friendly they were! Plenty of room for our son and dog to roam around and play, plus they were even welcome inside in the tasting room!

Most dog-friendly winery I've been to so far! Dogs are allowed inside the tasting room, which I haven't seen anywhere else. I wish I had taken photos inside because they have cute/funny photos of dogs on the wall. They even have doggy fro-yo.
