Tired today but also happy.

Sorry for the late weekly missive; tired today but also happy. Last night Sharon and I shared a late evening at the fantastic Iron Bridge Wine bar and restaurant in lovely downtown Warrenton with several BOWFriends and other winery owners. It was a nice time and people were in a mood to feel good. The harvest is finished and most the work in the cellar has been completed. The holidays are around the corner and we're all looking to taking a bit of time off. John and Holli Todhunter of Three Fox Vineyards are off to Italy soon...we're envious. We met Philip Carter Strother's parents and brother who is just back from 21 years in Holland. He and I spoke at length in my favorite language, Dutch. Louis and Louizos of Mediterranean Cellars were there. Louizos has just opened the county's newest winery, Molon Lave, just south of Warrenton. We're really excited for him! Dan and Cheryl Mortland of Fox Meadow were there. They have a lovely winery high on the mountain with some of the best views to the South all the way to Old Rag. You can almost see Narmada Vineyards from their deck. Narmada will be celebrating their grand opening next weekend the 21st and 22nd. You should go check them out! They'll have Indian foods and music all weekend long. Thinking about it now, there is a lot going on in wine country!

We were especially happy to have our Manager Kristin and her husband and parents with us. They are all fresh back from a great one week trip to London. It's great to see her back at BOW. Cathy was also with us for a while. It was just a great evening all around and it's very nice to enjoy the company of the people that you consider your peers.

Today is going to be very exciting! Good Morning America is coming to BOW to film a piece on the Local 647 food cart. Owners and our friends Derek and Amanda have made it to GMA's finalist stage of America's favorite food cart challenge. We're thrilled for them and honored that they selected BOW as the backdrop of their story. We are very proud of them and thrilled for their success! The taping will be shown on Saturday, November 21st, 2009, as Good Morning America Weekend will present on its broadcast the video from each of the four food carts, as well as each food truck's signature dish. Viewers will be asked to go to GMA.ABCNews.com to cast their vote. Please track Derek and Amanda's story as it develops and catch them and vote for them on Saturday the 21st! Local 647 will also be at BOW tomorrow, Saturday, serving the best food from the best food cart in the country!

In honor of Veteran's Day, on Sunday we'll have a "Paws for the Cause Benefit" as we BBQ for our injured service men and women. Burgers and Dogs on the grille; 100% of the sales will go to Fisher House, a great organization that funds the construction of housing for the families of our injured servicemen so that they may be close to their loved ones during their recuperation. Please come to enjoy a burger grilled by our partner Dave, (U.S.A.F. ret.). Last year we raised $1500, this year we hope to double that! Sunday from 11-5.

Finally, this is the season to give. One of the highlights of a great week was delivering over 1500 food items to Fauquier F.I.S.H. (For Immediate Sympathetic Help) serving Fauquier's neediest families. That is the food that our friends and customers have brought to BOW since Halloween. Thank you for this amazing gift! We will continue to collect food items till December 20th because this is the time of greatest need. Bring in 4 or more items and receive a full free tasting on us. FISH especially needs baby food, condiments, cake mixes, cereal boxes, Hamburger Helper type things, and toiletry items. Even better, if you bring in one medium to large canned ham, your full tasting will be on us. Please help us to bring the spirit of giving to Fauquier's neediest families this season!
